Abstract

Small amount of N increased dry matter and pod weight but not seed yield of local and improved cowpea. Mo increased leaf N content, dry matter, pod weight and seed yield. Pelleting seeds with nitramolybdenum at 0.4g/100g seed resulted in seed yield of 1.39 tons/ha corresponding to a 21% increase over the control. Averaged over all treatments local cowpea yielded 1.19 tons/ha and improved cowpea 1.28 tons/ha on the oxisol. These yields were however not significantly different.
